Making Your Game a Reality Just Got Easier.

Design the Look

Designing a good looking layout for your game is one of the hardest parts. You should be able to sit back and approve finished projects. Let me agonize over the minute details so you can have a weight lifted from your shoulders.

Write the Game

Writing is the hardest part of creating a game. You can explain the rules, the game play, the setting but when it comes to writing it, you should be having fun. Let’s work together to get all that’s in your head on paper for everyone to see.

Enjoy the Creation

When your mind is thrown into full creation mode, it’s hard to step back and not get overwhelmed at the full table. Let’s work together to take that large scale feast into more manageable bites.

Your Game Has Purpose, Drive, and Beauty. Now You Just Need A Designer To Help You Put It All Together.

You’ve gotten the basics of your game down. You’ve even started writing down the rules and outlined elements of your setting.

But now its time to put it all together and get to work building the world. Yet, every time you touch finger to keyboard, or pencil to paper you find your mind utterly blank.

How the heck are you gonna get it all in order? How are you going to make things organized so someone else can read your giant book of all knowledge?

I know someone who has done that before and can help you…

Heyo, I’m Kat, The World Building Game Designer.

Whether you’re ready to be finished with your game or not, you have the passion to create it and somewhere deep down is the drive to finish it.

There is plenty of motivation to work on your own game. Things like, your preferred rules, your want for more give and take in the gameplay. It could be as simple as you have a world you want to share with others beyond those around your table.

All you need is to find that get up and go to write it all down and get it out in the world.

Here’s how this world building game designer can help you.

Let’s Talk About Your Project

I have a lot of tools in my toolbelt. Let me explain.

Open notebook with sketches and notes, featuring a wooden pencil with a blue tip placed on top.

Game Design includes mechanics, testing, and theory. You need to build a good structure (rules and world) for your game to be playable. That’s where good game design comes in.

Game Writing starts with structure and ends in edits and layouts. While you can have the structure in the world, you need to be able to share your vision. That’s where a good writer comes in handy.

Layout is the final touches to any game. Your game needs to be easy to read and engaging to the people who are playing it. This means each page needs to have a great font and even better flow.

Each of these options are priced via project and requires a conversation between us to figure out the details and amount of work.

Please set up a time with me or fill out the form below so we can find a time to talk about your project!

The Designer

Good day to you! Shall you pull up a chair while I get a fresh notebook? Very good. Did you need a drink? No. Then we shall begin.

I want you to know something very important. Tiny details are the most agonized part of any process in creation. Trust someone with as many hats as I wear.

Whether we’re working on basic outlining, full designing, or the final marathon of layout, we can do this together without fail.

Your game is worth playing. It’s worth seeing in its final form and together we can make that happen while keeping all the details in order.

Don’t let the small stuff trip you up. I’m here to help you with your Game Design.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can’t you give me a base price on your game design page?

I could. I could tell you that I charge $0.10 per word of game writing and that I charge $30 per page of layout or that I charge $75 per hour meeting we talk about game design.

But all those numbers seem pulled out of nowhere and for a project that’s simpler like 2 or 3 pages of text or maps or layout, its seems extreme to some. That’s why each of my prices for game design are quoted per project.

What types of things do you do for Game Design?

I build stat blocks. I build maps, encounters. I build modules. I’ve built/am building my own games. I build fantasy worlds. I design layouts. The only thing I don’t do is artwork. I have no talent beyond stick figures when it comes to breathing visual life into characters or locations. Words are my specialty.

I can’t find a time slot to talk to you. What do I do?

Simple! Just fill out the contact form and I’ll work with you for us to get together.

Who is a good fit for this side of your services?

Uh… everyone? 😀 I say that and mean it. Everyone deserves to tell their story. Everyone deserves to play your game! I’m up for many a challenge when it comes to projects but those I seek to work with tend to be:

  • Gamers

  • Game Developers (Digital and Tabletop)

  • TTRPG Blogs

  • Someone trying to build and design their own work of art (game).

I’d hope you’re on this list, but if you're not, don't be discouraged. Shoot me a message and we can talk about what we can do together.

Do You offer a payment plan for your projects?

Yes. Most of my projects with Game Design (layout or writing) can be paid with 50% when we start a project and 50% at completion.

This means that if we need to break up your project into pieces (which is needed for larger projects) we can work piece by piece until its finished.
